"Isolde, this is your mother! Where have you been? Why have you not been answering my calls? Call me back, I need to talk to you."
Next message.
"Izzy, it's Siobhan. Mum's starting to ask me why you aren't picking up your phone. She's jumping to stupid conclusions. Call her."
It wasn't that Izzy didn't care about her mother, she just hadn't had the time or the energy to listen to her. She had no interest in what her mother had to talk to her about; it was probably something trivial and unimportant. Her mother tended to flip out over the stupidest things. Perhaps it had to do with Siobhan. It probably had something to do with Siobhan.
Poor Siobhan. Her mother was constantly keeping an eye on her, making sure she didn't show any signs of power like Izzy had.
She probably did need to give some sort of indication that she was still alive (after all, being a Winterthornian would certainly raise some fears).
'everything's fine here. tell mum that i'll get around to talking to her. i've been really busy as of late. lots of homework. can't wait to see you. get freaky and maybe it'll be sooner. <3'
Click and send.
She pushed the phone back into her pocket and tilted back in her chair slightly, rubbing her eyes.
Her phone buzzed. And buzzed again. Not a text.
"Dammit." She turned off her phone. She'd have to leave it off for at least an hour. Then her mother would give up. Or go to bed. It was almost 10 at night.
But what to do? There was a pile of homework waiting in a messy pile on the desk.
No, not now.
Where was Elliot? That would certainly keep her occupied.
Being room mates with a supercuteandawesomelesbian certainly had its perks.

Okay, so it was obvious that Elliot didn't handle stressful situations well. Like at all. Normally she'd turn invisible and leave her glasses behind, sometimes even failing to notice it, depending on what she was doing. One such situation was when she was studying. Like say, now for example.
For hours she'd been in the library studying for this stupid history test she was worried about. It wasn't even that important, but every time a test rolled around she studied her ass of until she couldn't take it any longer. Or until she heard the tell tale sound of giggling girls. Fuck. That meant she'd done it again. Quickly, she grabbed the mirror from her bag to find a pair of glasses floating where she should've been.
So like any good invisible, awkward little fifteen year old, she gathered her books in her arms and like a flash of floating books and glasses (which I guess is what she is), she ran to her dorm, managing not to trip and fall once. ...Until she got to the dorm that is.
And oh, lucky her, she was visible in time for that.
Still in her uniform from hours earlier, she pushed up her glasses and gathered the books into her arms from up off of the dorm room floor. And that was when it hit her. (No, not Izzy you tit. Don't be so selfish.) "French?" She tilted her head in a curious manner, staring at the French book. "French." Wait--"French!" Heart breaking, she picked up the stupid French book. "I forgot. I can't believe I forgot. How could I forget?! I'm such an id--" Okay, now you can have your stupid selfish moment. Freezing in place, she held the book to her chest and stared up at Izzy. "--iot... Uh. Hi." Okay, this was worse than forgetting about your French test.

Things always seemed to happen when Izzy wasn't paying attention. Like during movies, she'd miss that one thing that was in the background that was crucial.
She'd also miss cues for thrilling heroics. She hadn't even realized that Elliot had entered the room and dropped all of her books until it was far too late.
Dammit, dammit. If she'd have been paying attention, she could have gotten up, and helped Elliot. Their hands would brush over a book or something and someone (probably Izzy) would bite their lip or something because of the tension-- a perfect start for flirting.
But yeah, by the time Izzy was up and halfway to her, the books were already in her arms and it was apparent that she hadn't even noticed her. Until... juuust now.
Elliot froze, and Izzy's heart fluttered a little. It was that face, that cute-little-mouse-with-cute-glasses-caught-in-the-kitchen-face, that made her want to just... kiss her or something.
Could you tell that someone's heart had fluttered by the look on their face?
Keeping a safe distance, she shoved her hands in her pockets. "Are you okay? I mean-- did you fall? I wasn't paying attention... I was... zozing... dozing? Zoning?"
When had her tongue gotten twice it's original size? A quick assessment said that it hadn't. She was just being stupid and she was going to fuck everything up and--
And then she bit her lip.
